WHAT IS YOUR SPECIALTY?

I'm an art therapist. My personal art practice is heavily fibers-based, mostly doll and puppet-making.

WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO KNIT/CROCHET?

My mom. She's a piano teacher, but somehow I never picked up piano. She's Korean, but I didn’t' learn (very much) Korean. But knitting? Oh yes, she taught me to knit! And sew, and mend, and start lots of projects that I might never finish.

WHAT IS YOUR SPECIALTY?

WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO KNIT/CROCHET?

For the last 20 years I have not knitted since I was busy learning English and trying to settle in Chicago. I used to knit during the war in Bosnia and my time in refugee camps.  Knitting for my nieces was a way for me to focus on something other than what I experienced. After joining CEW, my love for knitting has returned.

WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO KNIT/CROCHET?

When I was a sophomore in high school in the Philippines, I partook in a home economics course where I learned the very basic skills of sewing by hand. My grandmother is a talented cross stitcher, who exposed me to not only this medium but knitting. I am, at the present, learning how to knit for the first time. And I’ve been going crazy with creating garlands of pompoms.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH CEW?
